
COE President and CEO Dr. Kirk A. Nooks Brings Leadership in Motion Tour to Detroit, Michigan
COE President and CEO Dr. Kirk A. Nooks brought his Leadership in Motion Tour to Detroit, visiting DSDT College Inc. and Dymond Designs Beauty School.
The two institutions came together to host the visit, creating an experience that celebrated both faculty expertise and student talent. Highlights included a hair show competition featuring students from both institutions, as well as a panel discussion with faculty and staff. These activities gave Dr. Nooks a firsthand look at the innovation, creativity, and professional development taking place within the programs. Capturing the significance of the visit, Jamie Harris, CEO of DSDT College shared, “It was an honor to welcome Dr. Nooks from the Council on Occupational Education to Dymond Designs Beauty School alongside DSDT College. The visit highlighted the power of collaboration between our institutions as we work together to expand access to high-quality, accredited training programs. In addition to the special events, Dr. Nooks engaged with school leaders in thoughtful conversations about how accreditation supports institutional growth and student achievement. Faculty and staff shared their perspectives on the ways accreditation has strengthened daily operations, enhanced teaching, and improved outcomes for learners. The day concluded with a community-style lunch that allowed both institutions’ faculty and staff to connect more personally with Dr. Nooks. Echoing that sentiment, Roxy Dunlap, Admissions and Financial Aid Representative at Dymond Designs Beauty School shared, “Dymond Designs Beauty School and DSDT College proudly welcomed Dr. Nooks, President of the Council on Occupational Education, for an engaging and impactful campus tour. The visit underscored the value of collaboration between the institutions and highlighted the powerful role educators play in shaping students’ success. Dr. Nooks shared insight into the Council’s evolving direction and the importance of accreditation and supporting schools committed to excellence. The experience not only deepened our understanding of the accreditation process, but also affirmed the innovative work being done at institutions to equip students with skills, confidence, and opportunities that change lives.”
