Council on Occupational Education President and CEO Delivers Keynote at Eastern Virginia Career College Commencement

Dr. Kirk A. Nooks, President and CEO of the Council on Occupational Education (COE), served as Keynote Speaker at Eastern Virginia Career College’s (EVCC) Spring Commencement Ceremony held on March 26, 2026, in Fredericksburg, Virginia.

 

Dr. Nooks addressed graduates from the classes of 2025 and 2026, recognizing their perseverance and commitment to achieving this important milestone. His remarks emphasized the vital role career and technical education plays in preparing a skilled, workforce-ready generation.

 

“This is an exciting moment for graduates and their families,” said Dr. Nooks. “Commencement represents not only the culmination of hard work, but the beginning of meaningful contributions to your communities and chosen professions.”

 

During his visit, Dr. Nooks also toured EVCC’s campus, engaging with institutional leadership, faculty, and staff to gain deeper insight into the college’s programs and student-centered approach to career education.

 

Dr. Krishna Maddipatla, President of Eastern Virginia Career College, expressed confidence in the graduating class and appreciation for COE’s continued support.“Our graduates are prepared to meet the needs of today’s workforce and serve their communities with skill and compassion,” said Dr. Maddipatla. “We are proud to partner with the Council on Occupational Education in advancing quality career education and celebrating student success.”
