Council on Occupational Education Strengthens Leadership Team with Diverse Expertise

The Council on Occupational Education (COE) proudly announces the strategic expansion of its leadership team with the appointment of five distinguished professionals, each bringing a wealth of expertise to enhance the organization’s mission and commitment to excellence.


Dr. Warren E. Haynes – Associate Executive Director of Operations

Dr. Warren E. Haynes takes on the crucial role of Associate Executive Director of Operations, overseeing the day-to-day operations of COE. With a comprehensive background in public, private, nonprofit, and higher education sectors, Dr. Haynes brings a wealth of experience from faculty and administrative roles across various institutions. His diverse academic journey includes a postdoc at Rutgers University, a doctorate in public administration from the University of Baltimore, a master’s degree in Higher Education Administration from the City University of New York (CUNY), a master’s degree in city and regional planning, and a B.A. degree in political science from Morgan State University.


Susan Wright – Chief of Staff

Susan Wright, a seasoned education professional with over 25 years of service, assumes the position of Chief of Staff. Susan’s career spans from a high school business education and mathematics teacher to roles such as internal auditor, fiscal and budget policy analyst, and accounting faculty. Her recent leadership as the Dean at Georgia Piedmont Technical College and subsequent role as Chief Operations Officer at Syntony Design Collaborative showcase her commitment to education and operational excellence.


Mia Johnson – Communications Specialist

Mia Johnson, a creative visionary with a B.A. degree in Marketing from Clark Atlanta University, joins COE as a Communications Specialist. Tasked with complex administrative duties, drafting agency notification communications, and managing COE’s online presence, Mia’s expertise in branding and marketing will contribute to the organization’s outreach efforts.


Corri Bradley – HR/Finance Project Manager

Corri Bradley brings over 5 years of HR/Accounting experience to her role as HR/Finance Project Manager. Responsible for the day-to-day operations related to human resources and financial affairs, Corri aims to create positive working relationships within the COE team. Her passion for supporting growth aligns seamlessly with COE’s goals.


Dr. Tangela Purifoy – Assistant Executive Director – Institutional Compliance

Dr. Tangela Purifoy, with over 29 years in higher education, assumes a leadership role in compliance. As Assistant Executive Director, she manages the approval process for degree and non-degree programs, providing orientation and training to COE institutions. Dr. Purifoy’s extensive experience includes roles as Dean of Students, Dean of Students and Instructional Services, and nine years as Team Leader for COE.
